Carter's rough day.
Well, I'm glad to hear that people are happy we finally did a blog. Hopefully the info I'm about to share will not change that. I just wanted to tell about Carter's funny happenings today. He was having a tough morning of being fussy. It seemed as if his tummy hurt and he had to get something out, but nothing was coming. After a morning bath and a nap I figured he'd do better, but he woke up and was still pretty fussy. Well, while feeding him Carter released the mother load of all diapers. I held the back of the diaper in hopes of keeping all of the subtance in, but I was unsuccessful. I could tell some moisture was beginning to leak through, so I sat him up in order to salvage my own clothing. When I did this, however, I started getting yellow drips all over my pants. Confused as to where these drips were coming from, I examined Cater more closely and discovered that he had poop dripping from his armpit. He had blown out of the diaper, all up his back, and out of his sleeve. Needless to say, he got a second bath. I was just grateful we were at home when it happened. The good thing was he seemed to feel better after.
Carter's second adverture of the day was having his first food - a goldfish cracker. I had given Parker a handful of goldfish to appease him while I was making dinner. All of the other kids were outside, so Parker was entertaining Carter for me. While in the kitchen I heard Parker say, "I share with Carter mommy. I share my goldfish cracker." It registered and I quickly ran to the living room and fished the cracker out of Cater's mouth. Thankfully he had not attempted to swallow it yet. Parker and I had a long talk about not putting things in Carter's mouth after that. What a day.

Guess who?
We survived!
This weekend we decided to go camping with some friends. We originally planned on going for both Friday and Saturday nights, and returning for church on Sunday. We thought this would be great being that we were camping at Lake Shawnee which is 20 minutes from our house. Well, Kansas in the Spring can be very unpredictable as far as weather goes, and as our camping trip grew closer so did the forcast for thunderstorms. Since Friday night was only a 10 % chance of storms until 3 am (it then went up to 30 %) we thought we'd be ok. Saturday looked worse so we decided that we'd only stay one night. Well, the evening was great. The kids swam in the lake, we made dutch over pizzas, and of course had smores and dutch over cobbler for dessert. The weather seemed good too, until 3 am. We took our weather radio with us "just in case" and it was good we had it. As the thunder rolled in, we watched the warning lights go from yellow to red. The rain was hitting the tent hard, but the radio said the storm would only last until 4 am. Well, it then really hit at about 4:05 am, with rain hitting so hard it was pushing the wall in with each wave. We could also feel mist as the drops splattered through the wall of the tent. Of course kids can't sleep while camping, and they really can't sleep when there's a thunderstorm so Emily and Taylor quickly joined us on our air mattress. As I got up to help them get onto our air mattress, I noticed the puddles on the floor. Taylor's sleeping bag was already soaked through as well. It was pretty much raining inside the tent. Luckily Parker and Ashley were so exhausted that they slept through it and were just soaked in the morning. What a mess! I felt bugged that our tent leaked, but in the morning I discovered that the other four families were also waterlogged. There were even diapers floating in one tent. Anyway, we survived and the kids had fun getting muddy in the morning. Taylor's words were, "I guess we can't stay two nights now." It was funny.

Parker, our two-year-old, has recently entered into the dress up phase. His latest favorites are the elephant costume we have and a plastic construction hat. Either item can be found hanging on the bed post of his "big boy" bed at night or during naptime. My favorite thing is when he puts on his construction hat and says. "I gotta go work. Bye" He likes to be like daddy and go to work, although Jeff doesn't where a construction hat to work. Parker is definitely a Daddy's boy. He's so excited when Jeff comes home, and so mad when he leaves. He's a cute kid.
Ok, here we go. I finally created a blog. The other day, after having given up exercising on account of a broken CD player, I finally grabbed my children's CD player and got back into the program. I thought, no more excuses. At that time I also decided there are no more excuses for not joining the technology world and creating a blog. Having been inspired my my old roomates Jenni and Wendy, who also graduated from college the same time as me (before the blog world came to be), I decided I could do it. Had I known it was this easy, I would have done it a long time ago. Anyway, since this is the first entry and I am just getting into it, I will make this short. I want to see how it works.
