Candy Houses

We've always had a tradition of making candy houses with family or friends. Last year it worked out to have our family here to make the houses, but this year we invited some friends. We always made them in Kansas with some good friends, so we wanted to try and start that here too. The kids had a lot of fun making houses with their friends.

Fall Fun

One part of fall that I absolutely love is when the leaves change color. I remember raking up, and jumping in leaves as a child, and I have always wanted my kids to have that experience. In Kansas we really didn't have enough leaves to make raking and jumping worth it, and again in our home, our trees are too small to produce leaves sufficient for a great jumping experience. So this year, my parents were nice enough to let my kids borrow their yard and leaves for a little bit of fall fun. Even the babies got involved, which was fun to watch.

Utah History program

In our school, each grade does a different performance throughout the year. For fourth grade, the kids put on a little musical/dramatic production on the history of Utah. Ashley was very excited to dress up as a pioneer. The program was cute, and ended with some square dancing that the families got to participate in if they wanted.

Carter's surgery

Another thing that happened in November was Carter got surgery on his hand to repair a congenital trigger thumb. Basically he couldn't bend his thumb, so they opened the shaft that the tendon goes through so he could have full motion in his hand. It was a same day surgery, and Carter did remarkably well. The doctor's and nurses were impressed at how well he did. He hardly complained as he healed for a week after as well.

The Monster Party

Even though he had to wait a week, Parker was excited to finally get his friend birthday party. We had a monster theme and invited six little boys. The boys had fun making monster feet, playing pin the eye on the monster, and carrying a monster eye on a spoon. The also had fun playing with monster slime (cornstarch and water.) The kids did great and they all had fun.

Emily joins Girlscouts

In November we discovered that there was a girl scout troop in our ward, so Emily joined up. So far it has been a lot of fun for her. She was pretty cute and excited the day she was welcomed in.

Parker's Birthday

So it's time for a big catch up again. I'm hoping to get this up to date so I can print last year's entries. A lot has happened since the last time I wrote though, so we'll see how this goes.

Right after Halloween Parker turned six. Jeff's parents came over to celebrate, which was a good thing for us (not them) since three of us were throwing up by the end of the night. Emily, Carter, and I missed the party because we were sick, so Jeff and his parents worked to get everyone fed and the cake and presents done. Poor Parker. He's such a sweet little guy. He didn't complain at all. In fact, the next day when he got sick and we had to postpone his friend birthday party, he didn't even get mad. We sure love Parker.
